BoardColumn

class.NET 6 / 8 / 10.NET Framework 4.8Binarymission.WinForms.Controls.ProjectManagement

A column of the task board: one value of ProjectTask.Status, the heading shown for it, and the most cards it should hold.

public class BoardColumn

Remarks

Add these to TaskBoard.Columns to give the board a workflow of its own, in the order the columns should appear. A card sits in the column whose Status equals its task's status, and moving a card to a column sets the task's status to it. Columns with no status, or with the same status as an earlier column, are ignored.

A column's properties are plain values, not watched: after changing one on a column that is already on a board, call the board's Reschedule.

Examples

board.Columns.Add(new BoardColumn("To do"));
board.Columns.Add(new BoardColumn("In progress", 3) { Header = "Doing" });   // at most three at once
board.Columns.Add(new BoardColumn("Review", 2));
board.Columns.Add(new BoardColumn("Done"));

Constructors

BoardColumn

public BoardColumn()

Creates an empty column. Give it at least a Status; a column without one is ignored.

BoardColumn

public BoardColumn(string status, int limit

Creates a column for a status.

Parameters
status
The ProjectTask.Status value the column stands for, which is also its heading unless Header is set.
limit
The work-in-progress limit: the most cards the column should hold. The default, 0, sets no limit.

Properties

Header

public string Header

Gets or sets the heading shown at the top of the column, when it should differ from the status.

Value
The default is null, which shows Status.

Limit

public int Limit

Gets or sets the work-in-progress limit: the most cards the column should hold, across every lane.

Value
A number of cards; 0, the default, or less sets no limit.
Remarks

The heading shows the count against the limit, in the board's over-limit colour once the column holds more. Whether a card can still be dropped into a column that is full is the board's TaskBoard.StrictLimits setting.

Status

public string Status

Gets or sets the ProjectTask.Status value this column stands for.

Value
Compared exactly, case included. The default is null; a column without a status is not shown.

Methods

IsNullOrEmpty

public string DisplayHeader

Gets the heading the board shows: Header, or Status when the header is empty.

ToString

public override string ToString()

Returns the column's heading, for the debugger and for list boxes.

Returns

The DisplayHeader, or an empty string when the column has neither a header nor a status.
